Aims of Primary Science Syllabus
The Primary Science Syllabus aims to provide students with experiences/opportunities to:
- Build on their interest and stimulate their curiosity about themselves and their environment.
- Acquire basic scientific concepts to help them understand themselves and the world around them.
- Develop skills, dispositions, and attitudes for scientific inquiry.
- Apply scientific concepts and skills in making responsible decisions
- Appreciate how Science influences people and the environment
The questions in the exams requires Thinking Process Skills. Hence, memorising the textbook does not work in Science exams anymore.
PSLE syllabus will include Science topics from Primary 3- Primary 6 meaning each child need to master their topics from Primary 3-Primary 6 syllabus. Furthermore, Science is an important subject in primary school. It builds foundation for their Sciences in Secondary school (where there will be biology, physics and chemistry).
